Names for fictitious characters

Naming a character can be difficult especially if others have used the same name on a gaming server that only allows one character with that epic name. I have come across this problem many times and have gone to the internet to find inspiration to find the next coveted name only to type it in and find out it’s taken too. NOOOOO!!

Gnomercy – When I first saw this name I fell in love, and have never been able to use it.

Lb it – Lb for pound, so… pound it. When I told my wife this one I got the look. Some of you may know that look, the one that pretty much sums up how stupid you sound.

Hadouken or Hadoken – from Ryu’s special attack in the Capcom’s Street Fighter series of fighting games.

An idea I had back in high school was to figure out how to say things backward to name my characters. I can’t pinpoint the precise moment that this was a thing, but it definitely was not original. I used my last name at first, cause why not. Ellison backward was Nosille, which I pronounced as No Silly. Eventually, this petered out as finding something that worked for a character was rare, but there is one name I always stick to if I make a barbarian. Conan but pronounced backward as Neha-nock.

This list isn’t complete I plan on revisiting it as I come across names I used in the past or as new ones present themselves.
