I am interested in creating my own game but don’t have the formal training, knowledge, or skill set, yet that doesn’t stop me from dreaming. In fact, there have been times when I think of a game concept, begin a journal on aspects I’d like to see, and then let it sit for a few months, and then some other developer creates a similar game. The last time this happened to me, I thought I had a solid concept that I haven’t seen before, a side-scrolling golf game with RPG elements. Two months later and I saw an ad for Cursed Golf (released 8 Aug 2022).

Talk about devastated, I was hardcore learning how to get past the programming portion in Godot. This was similar enough to the concept I had in mind that I stopped what I was doing and decided to wait for the game to come out. Yeah, I was going to buy it; come on, this is what I wanted.
I did buy it and will eventually make game-play videos of it as well. Since that is something I started recently as well as this website (you know… in my free time, between gaming… and being a father… and changing my career for the 3rd time within a year).
Well, back to the point, while trying to level up my skill in game development, I decided to go with Aseprite (https://store.steampowered.com/app/431730/Aseprite/) for my sprite creation needs.
I attempted to create my first sprite by using Pinterest photos of Perler beads and just learning how to animate myself with no real theory of what I was doing. To keep my interest, I needed a motivating figure, so I chose Deadpool. This is what I came up with

I haven’t done much since due to time, but the difficulty I had was getting his legs walking.

Eventually, I’ll get back to this but wanted to share with you that anyone, no matter the skill level, can create something amazing if they just keep at it. This was done over four nights when I was working the night shift and my family was sleeping.
